Luckily, some other countries have already begun to fare their own ways to conserve water which is essential for all human beings.First of all, one of our neighboring countries, capital of Singapore, has come out with couple of ideas to conserve water. Firstly, Singapore has started a new water treatment program called NEWater. Used water will be flown to the water treatment define to be treated. The process uses dual-membrane which consists of little filtering and reverse osmosis to get the best quality of water treatment. The outcome is that the treated water is so good as it is safe enou gh to be utilize as drinking water. Other than that, Water Watch Society (WWS) of Singapore has organized River Monster Educational Program. Similarly, as Singapore, employ water is treated and the project is called Reclaimed Water Use Project. The water treatment plant is situated in the city of Fukuoka and it is been there since 1979. However, the treated water is just used for watering plant and used in factories. Besides that, the Kanagawa Prefectural Assembly in Japan passed on an ordinance to impose an additional residence tax to be used exclusively for promoting water-source protection projects. The aim of this tax system is to conserve and restoring forests and rivers. Life with a Siberian Husky Essay example -- essays research papers

Life with a Siberian Husky I really had no idea what I was attractting intowhen I decided to get a Siberian Husky for a pet. Dont get me wrong Iwouldnt trade him for anything and I love him dearly, but this fauna has his birth plan - his own agenda. The last three years of my life have been anawakening to the downright mischievous nature of these dogs. Ive met other Husky owners and they all have the identical stories of their dogs running away and possessing the trademark Husky stamina. They also tell of the little idiosyncrasies, such as their dogs "talking" and the way Huskies know when youre speaking about them when they are in the room. All of these owners are amazed at the Houdini-like capabilities these dogs have to help them escape any enclosure. I have a few entertaining stories of my own about my Husky, Khayman. First of all, he is the dog that everyone loves and no one wants to own. I can barely get anyone to watch him for more than ten minutes. Its not that K hayman is a mean animal--he isnt--he is just clever. Part of the reason everyone likes him is because of his looks, but mostly hes got a lot of personality. His bandit mask and two different colored eyes (blue and brown) get him attention, pats on the head, dog biscuits at the gas station, and royal treatment whenever anyone finds him on his escapades (which, mind you, have been many). His first escapades didnt take him far, mostly running down the thoroughfare a few blocks after bum rushing the...

The Characters of Leo Tolstoys Anna Karenina Essay -- Tolstoy Anna Ka

The Characters of Leo Tolstoys Anna Karenina By examining the mention list, one immediately notices the pass judgment Tolstoy places on character. With one hundred and forty named characters and several other unnamed characters, Tolstoy places his central focus in Anna Karenina on the characters. He uses their actions and behavior to develop the bandage and exemplify the major themes of the novel. Tolstoy appetencyes to examine life as it really is. Tolstoy gives us a lifelike representation in Anna Karenina by creating characters, both major and minor, that conduce to the sense of realism. The most striking feature of Tolstoys minor characters is that although they may only appear briefly, they still possess a sense of lifelikeness. When a character is introduced, Tolstoy provides the reader with details of the characters appearance and actions that give a sense of realism. For example, the waiter that Stiva and Levin encounter at their dinner, although a fla t character is definitely presented in a elbow room which allows him to have a sense of lifelikeness and fullness. From the speech patterns the waiter uses to the description of the fit of his uniform, one is presented with the details that allow the waiter to contribute to the novel in substance beyond simply the presence of a minor character. His description and actions provide the novel with a sense of real life. Another way in which Tolstoy gives the minor character a sense of life is by making them unpredictable. One sees this in the character of Ryabinin. When initially discussed, the reader is told that upon conclusion of busines... ...esponse to the same situation. It is this occupation of the three characters that allows Tolstoy to take full command of the life novel. He achieves a sense of real life in all of his characters. Although the reader may wish to, and can, draw distinctions in Tolstoys characters such as a major or minor character that is either flat or round, the central focus of the character should be the contribution that they make to the reality of the novel. Although one can classify each of the characters in Anna Karenina as a major, minor, flat or round character, Tolstoy presents each of his characters, whether they be major minor flat or round, so as to convey a sense of reality and lifelikeness in his novel. The Prince and The Discourses: a Study in Sovereign Power Essay

When Machiavelli originally wrote The Prince at the end of 1513 and perhaps early 1514, it had been written quickly by an author who was, among other things, seeking to regain his lieu in the Florentine government. Since many of his colleagues in the republican government had been quickly rehabilitated and returned to service under the Medicis, Machiavelli felt that he needed a fair proceeds in order to regain his previous post. It was originally written for presentation to Giuliano deMedici, who might have actually appreciated it. But the dedication was changed when Giulianos died and it was then rededicated to Lorenzo deMedici who in all probability did not read it when it came into his hands in 1516. Then in 1515-16, when he wrote the Discourses (a much longer process) it was probably the result of many discussions he might antecedently have had with scholars knowledgeable in political theory. In any event, when looking at these two books it becomes evident that the Prince was meant for an audience who wouldnt take it completely badly but would look to it as a satirical reminder of what could be and then with the Discourses, of how it should be done.Machiavellis political treatise, The Prince, has previously been seen as a departure from traditionalistic thinking of the time. Machiavelli wanted a new theory that was free of stagnate ideals and ethical codes. The way he described government was as if it were a practical, in effect(p) machine that made its own rules to fit the situation at hand instead of abiding by laws, morals, or culturally created traditions. Every political intellect before Machiavelli treated the use of power as a means to an end their only differences lying in what they considered that end to be and how far... ...when connected to the Discourses it is a way for a independent to compare the ideal and the reality of his/her sovereignty. Since the Prince seems to be on the extreme yet ideal end of the governmental spectrum, a sovereign (with the right amount of intelligence) could rightfully look to The Prince as an end and The Discourses as a means to that end. In effect, both books have created a full retentive philosophy, just not from outside appearances. But with a little more introspection, a coherent line of thought begins to appear.Works CitedWooton, David ed. Modern Political estimation Readings from Machiavelli to Nietzsche. Computers Have Impacted Me in Many Ways :: Personal Narrative Writing

Computers Have Impacted Me in Many WaysFirst of all, I want to begin by saying that in order for me to set up this paper interesting at all, I am willing to pretend that computers are somewhat fun and exciting but the truth is, I frankly can non stand anything that goes beyond the basics of a computer because if I try to go any deeper I am reminded that it has a big brain than I. Due to the fact that I have an undying frustration with these boxes of microchips, this may not be the most professional sounding paper in the world, but I will do my best in trying to make it fun and entertaining. Out of all of the topics that I saw on the lean of what we could do this paper on, I found zero that actually interested me, but I chose one anyway. Well, actually, I more or less move one of the topics into something that I could handle writing five rogues on. I am going to talk about how computers impact me in my daily life and I will talk about my past experience with computers and the things that I have learned from them. Computers have impacted me in many ways. Although I do not like to be instructed in how to do certain assignments (web sites and so forth) I do enjoy being able to have the luxury to type a paper on the easy to use, Microsoft word. Being an English major, it is very important that editing be taken very seriously and it makes my life a softwood easier knowing that if I get sick of making corrections on a 20 page paper, the computer will pick out the translucent ones so that it saves me time. This may sound like a lame reason, but it saves me a lot of time. Another thing that I love is that its so easy to make change to a document font in any way that I want. If I want the words to be size of it twenty-two then all I have to do is highlight and hit the button. If I want to make a cool cover page with different font styles I can choose from a variety of different designs. Two of my favorites are comic sans and futura xblkit bt.
